Consider that we humans must use both sides of our brains to function in a holistic sense. Logic based decisions are essential, as in passing up a new car that looks great but has a poor safety rating and choosing a better built model instead. But most of us also know that some realities just do not lend themselves well to considered thought.
Music is an excellent example. Notes, octaves, sharps and flats, beats and harmonies are all related to the highly technical aspects of complex sound waves. But those sound waves gain their meaning in the correspondingly complex processing in people's ears and brains. It is an established fact that many great musicians cannot read a note of music. That is a beautiful thing essential to human meaning, that is fed by the mathematical exactness of aural physics.
The two belong together in a complementary way. Going "with your gut" in times of uncertainty can be a highly respected talent. This is the stuff that makes great leaders, including those not in recognized "leadership" positions.
Most of us amass a digestible amount of knowledge, both from being taught by others and from direct observation and experience. It is a waste in a sense if all that learning is not used for the benefit of ourselves and other humans. As humans arguably are spiritual as well as biological beings, there are plenty of opportunities in our regular interactions with one another to ply this synergy.
I never have bought into the notion that it is necessary to focus on only a few narrow specialties. To be a whole person, one needs to pursue both technical and creative experiences to the greatest extent possible.
Enjoy perusing this site in those pursuits.
